Council of Mortgage Lenders lacking teeth on Hips
The Council of Mortgage Lenders has been blamed for lacking teeth on Home Information Packs (hips).
Stephen Knight, Executive Chairman at GMAC-RFC says: “The problem with home information packs (hips) is that the big estate agents are lobbying the government hard to implement them, saying there is a market need.
“The reality is estate agents see an opportunity for themselves to supply appraisers, which is absolutely what the market doesn’t need.
“I am surprised by the CML’s lack of teeth on the issue”
Bernard Clarke, spokesman for the CML, says: “Our members have differing views on Home Information Packs (Hips). We want to see them introduced in a way that doesn’t create problems for lenders and create the potential for exploitation.” |
