Home-sellers 'should seek estate agents who support Hips'
People looking to sell their home should seek estate agents who are supportive of home information packs (Hips), according to a trade body.
The Association of Home Information Pack Providers (Ahipp) has said that estate agents who accept Hips openly will find that that their business could benefit "enormously".
Furthermore, estate agents who are enthusiastic about Hips should be able to ensure that sales are "more likely to proceed", while also improving the speed of the sale, the association notes.
Mike Ockenden, director general of Ahipp, remarked: "[Estate agents] who look at them as a nuisance and ignore the benefits of them will find two things over time; one is that their portfolios don't perform as well as other people's do, and actually that they're less successful in obtaining listings."
He concluded by saying that home-sellers considering selling their home privately should be aware that estate agents may be able to procure Hips more quickly than individuals trying to do so for themselves.
Recently, Legal & General warned that estate agents should not underestimate the amount of effort and time needed to train staff on handling Hips.
