AHIPP slams Tories
23-Oct-2007
Mike Ockenden, director general, Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP), has hit out at the Conservatives are making claims of “burying” research about Home Information Packs (HIPs).
He said: “The Conservatives are purely speculating that the information from last year’s trials is negative. Whilst I can confirm that we have not received the results, anecdotal evidence suggests to us that the feedback will be broadly positive. This is why it is so frustrating that Government has not completed the rollout of HIPs. The Conservative reaction is just the usual politicking and scaremongering we have come to expect from them about HIPs.
“We have seen the market settle down well in the rollout of HIPs for four and three bedroom homes and feedback to date has been very positive. Four bedroom home listings have now returned to normal levels, and three bedroom homes are following the same trend. The Government has pledged to continue working with industry to ensure that the full benefits of HIPs are delivered to consumers, making the process quicker, less stressful and ultimately less expensive.”
